You May Be Asking, "How Do I Begin to Pray?"

You've come to the right place - we're here to help!  Fr. Lucas Rossi, Pastor at St. Michael Catholic Church, has created a series of short homilies on prayer, and has wonderful tips to encourage beginners start on the path of prayer.   His videos include reflections such as: at its very basic, prayer is a conversation.  It is not a technique to be mastered.  You are simply speaking to God, and God is speaking to you.  You can prayer anytime, anywhere.  And as St. Theresa of Avila said that "prayer is an intimate conversation between friends", so in prayer, we're before God, the one who loves us.

Prayer is a conversation with God

Prayer makes a path for God in our lives.  In Isaiah 6, the prophet tells us about his conversation with God - it's short, sweet, and to the point.  But nevertheless, it is wonderfully exciting, for the very fact that God speaks!  The prophets writes, "I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?'  Then I said, 'Here am I!  Send me.'  And HE said, 'Go....'" (Is. 6:8-9)  Prayer is a wonderful gift God has given to us, which allows us to communicate with Him, and even more, it is meant to be bi-directional because God wants to speak to us.  When entering into prayer, let's remember to take time to just be with God, and listen for His voice.
