Universal Prayer — Baptism of [N.]

Brothers and sisters, as [N.] is about to be reborn of water and the Spirit, let us pray to the Lord for this child, for his/her family, and for the world.

1. For the Church

   That the Church may welcome each newly baptized with joy and be a family where faith and fraternity grow. Lord, hear our prayer.

2. For the World

   For the children of the whole world, especially those deprived of love, food, or education; that every child may be recognized as a gift from God. Lord, hear our prayer.

3. For the Suffering

   For parents enduring the trial of a child's illness, for broken families; may the grace of baptism be a source of comfort and strength. Lord, hear our prayer.

4. For [N.]

   For [N.] who receives baptism today: may the light of Christ accompany him/her throughout his/her life, and may his/her parents and godparents guide him/her on the path of faith. Lord, hear our prayer.

Father, You give us new birth in Your Son through baptism. Watch over [N.], protect him/her, and nurture in him/her the seed of eternal life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
