Inspiration at the service of the Liturgy

Compose beautiful, profound Prayers of the Faithful rooted in current events in just a few clicks. Oremus guides you according to the structure of the Roman Missal.

Oremus is the reference tool for composing the Sunday Prayer of the Faithful and major Catholic celebrations. Designed for priests, deacons and liturgy teams, it accompanies you from choosing intentions to the final draft, respecting the structure of the Roman Missal and the spirit of Sunday.

A Prayer of the Faithful rooted in the day's liturgy

The Prayer of the Faithful, also known as the General Intercessions or oratio fidelium, is one of the most delicate moments of the Mass: it gathers the assembly's prayer for the Church, the world, those who suffer, and the local community. Oremus draws on the Sunday readings of the liturgical lectionary to suggest intentions that prolong the proclaimed Word.

Each proposal follows the four traditional intentions recommended by the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM n°70): for the needs of the Church, for civil authorities and the salvation of the world, for those weighed down by difficulties, and for the local community. You remain in charge of the final text — you can edit, shorten, merge or rewrite anything.

For whom? Priests, deacons, liturgy leaders

Oremus is intended for everyone preparing the Sunday liturgy or special celebrations: parish priests, permanent deacons, seminarians, lay liturgy teams, religious, movement leaders and choirs. It saves precious time on Saturday evening or during Friday preparation, without replacing pastoral discernment.

Parishes that use Oremus especially appreciate the coherence between intentions and the day's readings, the ability to add an intention for the week's deceased, and the fact that the texts sound right when proclaimed — they are written for oral use, with a rhythm suited to the liturgy.

Two complementary styles: traditional and charismatic

Depending on your parish's sensitivity, you can choose a traditional style — sober, contemplative, faithful to the classic formulations of the oratio fidelium — or a charismatic style, more enthusiastic, inviting praise and trust in the Holy Spirit. Both styles follow the same liturgical structure.

You can also generate prayers for non-Sunday moments: weddings, funerals, baptisms, first communions, confirmations, wedding anniversaries, patronal feasts. Each type has its own templates, available from the Special Intentions page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Prayer of the Faithful?

The Prayer of the Faithful (General Intercessions, oratio fidelium) is the prayer the assembly addresses to God after the homily and the Creed, before the presentation of the gifts. It comprises four intentions: for the Church, for the world, for those who suffer, and for the local community. Its current form was restored by the Second Vatican Council.

Does Oremus respect the Roman Missal?

Yes. Generated prayers follow the structure recommended by the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM n°69-71): invitation by the celebrant, intentions proposed by a member of the assembly, conclusion by the celebrant. You remain free to adapt the text according to your bishop's or diocesan liturgist's guidance.

What is the difference between traditional and charismatic styles?

The traditional style favours sober, contemplative formulations close to the Missal. The charismatic style adopts a more enthusiastic tone, with praise and trust in the Holy Spirit, without departing from the liturgical substance. Both styles are faithful to Catholic doctrine.

Can I edit the generated prayers?

Absolutely. Every prayer generated by Oremus is editable. You can add, remove, merge or rewrite intentions. The text is yours and can be personalised to include a deceased person's name, a local event, or a specific intention from the pastor.

Is Oremus free?

Yes, generating a Prayer of the Faithful is entirely free and requires no account. Saving, parish management and team sharing features are also free, after creating an account.

Is my data protected?

Oremus complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your data stays in Europe, is never resold, and you can delete your account at any time. Prayers generated without an account are not stored with a user identifier.
